A bust of Fyodor Tyutchev was open in the yard of the former Gagarins' manor in Moscow on Friday. The great Russian poet spent his childhood and youth here. The monument was established on the means of the Russian Children's Fund situated in the Gagarins' manor. The restoration of the manor was accomplished at the same time.
Russian Vice Premier Galina Karelova who attended the opening ceremony expressed gratitude to the Children's Fund. "This is a real example for moral upbringing of children," she said.
On his part, Russian Culture Minister Mikhail Shvydkoi said that "Tyutchev's heart, soul and thoughts were always connected with Russia." "His works make us think about the future of our great country," the minister said.
Congratulation messages by Russian First Lady Lyudmila Putin and Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexis II were read out at the opening ceremony.
"Tyutchev was our great compatriot, the Russian poet of genius and an Orthodox believer. He associated Orthodoxy with his main idea of Holy Russia," reads the Patriarch's message.
