Russia will present seven films within the 27th International Film Festival slated to be held in Cairo from October 7 to 17, officials of the international department of the Film Makers' Union of the Russian Federation said on Monday.
The Russian films will participate in the competition and non-competition programs. Listed among them are works of young talented film directors which have already been awarded prizes at Russian and international festivals.
Listed among them are Andrei Zvyagintsev's film The Return which clinched two Golden Lions at once in Venice, The Stroll by Alexei Uchitel which was marked with two main prizes at the All-Russia festival Window to Europe in Vyborg, With Love, Lilly by Larisa Sadilova, and other films.
A representative delegation of Russian film makers will go to Cairo, since the festival is to be held in the year of the 60th anniversary of the signing of the treaty on diplomatic relations between the USSR and Egypt.
Well-known Russian film director Sergei Solovyov was invited as a member of the jury of the 27th Cairo festival.
