The Russian Science and Culture Center in Kuala Lumpur hosted the Pushkin Recitals event Friday dedicated to the 204th anniversary of birth of the most popular in Malaysia Russian poet in Malaysia.
Students and faculties of Malaysia's largest universities took part in the recitals, and also candidates to be sent to study in Russian higher educational institutions who are currently improving the level of their Russian in Kuala Lumpur.
The event was attended by Viktor Seleznyov, the councillor minister of the Russian Federation's Embassy to Malaysia and Viktor Pogodayev, a Russian Professor of the Malaya University, who greeted the audience and spoke of the great poet's life and his work's significance for the Russian literature. The participants were shown the screen version of Pushkin's "Ruslan and Lyudmila." The evening was crowned by a recital of Pushkin's poems by Malaysian students, who learn Russian.
