Memorial plaques will be put up in the St. Alexander Nevsky Church in the city of Veliky Novgorod with the names of Novgorod people who died in battles in local military conflicts engraved on them.
A prayer in memory of the fallen Novgorod servicemen and the consecration of the memorial plaques in the St. Alexander Nevsky Church will take place on Thursday, on the eve of the Victory Day.
The names of 54 people of Veliky Novgorod - servicemen and Interior Ministry troops who died in combats in Angola, Afghanistan, Vietnam and Chechnya - are inscribed on the gilded plaques.
