A department of world politics will be opened in the Lomonosov Moscow State University on September 1st, this year. Andrei Kokoshin, chairman of the committee of the State Duma (Lower House of the Russian Parliament) for the affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and for contacts with compatriots, spoke about it in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets.
According to Kokoshin, "the problems of the CIS countries and of international co-operation between Russian regions, which are rapidly progressing now, will occupy an appreciable place in the activity of this department." Andrei Kokoshin, who is also a co-ordinating co-chairman of the Russian Public Council for the Development of Education, said that students and post-graduates from the CIS countries and other states bordering on Russia would be invited to study at this department.
Apart from that, it is planned to co-operate with appropriate departments in the leading higher educational establishments of Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus and other member-countries of the Commonwealth.
