On Tuesday evening in Berlin, the All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK) held the presentation of its RTR-Planeta television channel.
As the RIA Novosti correspondent was told in Berlin by the head of the VGTRK Foreign Broadcasting Service, Olga Porozhnyakova, this presentation in the building of the Russian Embassy in Unter den Linden is devoted to the beginning of broadcasting by the Russian television in the all-German cable nets.
"The RTR-Planeta is the first in history Russian television channel which has received a license for broadcasting in all sixteen federal lands of Germany. It is especially pleasant that this event took place at the time of the Russian-German Cultural Meetings of 2003-2004 under the patronage of the Presidents of Russia and the FRG - Vladimir Putin and Johannes Rau," underscored Olga Porozhnyakova.
According to her, this project of the VGTRK does not pursue commercial purposes but is aimed at satisfying the cultural and information requirements of approximately three and a half or four million Russian-speaking citizens of Germany (about five percent of the entire population in Germany), and also at giving diverse and objective information at first hand from Russia to all those who are interested in this information, including politicians and representatives of the business quarters, said Olga Porozhnyakova.
