A 3rd Colour Sky international balloon festival is starting in St. Petersburg tomorrow, to last into Saturday, April 19. The Baltic House theatre foyer hosts an opening gala.
Dedicated to the city foundation tricentenary, the festival competition gives contestants 17 hours to make figurative or ornamental compositions of helium and air balloons varying in size and colour. The public will see them in the making from start to finish.
A total 22 Russian and Ukrainian teams are contesting for sizable money prizes, two to five sportsmen in each. The three winners will be announced, Saturday.
The city's top-notch commercial advertisers, balloon manufacturers and members of the tricentennial promotion board are coming together on the jury, reports the festival organisational committee.
