Samsung has released the new video demonstrating the company's vision of the future of mobile gadgets. The video shows how the device can be used for reading text, taking photos, making video calls and translating texts and speech. The electronic giant also showed the use of the 3D technology in the screen, Ruformator said.
It is impossible to understand whether the device is a smartphone or a tablet computer. The South Korean company apparently believes that the future of mobile devices is a hybrid of both the phone and the slate computer. Samsung's concept product looks transparent, flexible and absolutely flat.
The device comes complete with voice recognition technology, automatic translation, 3D images and augmented reality function. For video calls, one can bend the device so that the two people could see each other.
Such smartphones can become real in distant future only. Engineers would at first have to find many technological solutions to making flexible and transparent processors, memory units, batteries and other electronic components.
However, according to Slashgear, flexible and transparent tablets and smartphones may already make their debut at Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January 2012.
In January 2011, Samsung unveiled several flexible and transparent display panels at CES. They were 4.5 and 19-inch displays.
