Human remains, including a human skull with a bullet hole, have been found in Southern California's Angeles National Forest, authorities say.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said Friday there are "suspicious circumstances surrounding the discovery of human remains. We don't know what we have."
Whitmore said authorities did not know the gender of the remains which he said were discovered by two hikers Thursday evening.
The skull portion of the remains was turned over the coroner, Whitmore said.
About 10 people including the coroner and forensic scientists will go Saturday to the area where the remains were found and resume the search, the Los Angeles Times reported.
