Google's new "search within a search" service raised concerns among online publishers, as the latter are afraid of fraud.
The new service provides users with specific information on sites like Wikipedia, NYT.com, WashingtonPost.com, Wal-Mart. It offers another search box within the created, thus giving more opportunity for detailed search.
The main concerns about the second search box are:
- it reveals Google ad, the revenues of which are not shared with publishers of the sites in question;
- it promotes rival sites;
- it offers Google-sponsored pages and avoids often directing to initial sites.
Google in its turn reported that it got a few complaints and had to turn off the function for those sites.
