Business and authorities should unite efforts

On Tuesday, Boris Gryzlov, Speaker of the State Duma, met Alexander Shokhin, a member of the board of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP).

According to the State Duma's PR department, the meeting considered the country's economic development, tax reform, interaction between the business community and state power bodies.

Mr. Shokhin told the State Duma speaker about the upcoming formation and plans of the coordination council of the Russian entrepreneurial unions, which will be founded by the RSPP, the all-Russian public organization of small and medium entrepreneurship OPORA Rossii, and the all-Russian public organization Delovaya Rossia (Business Russia).

The State Duma speaker stressed that accelerated economic growth required joint efforts of the authorities and business. In this connection, optimal mechanisms for cooperation between the State Duma and business associations and for public expertise of draft laws should be worked out.

Boris Gryzlov spoke about the plans to create the public chamber to include public associations accredited in the State Duma. Within the public chamber, there will be committee for the main law-making activities, and, according to the State Duma speaker, Mr. Shokhin could head one of them in charge of public expertise of economic issues.
