Gazprom to raise prices for gas supplied to Baltic states

Gazprom company is planning to raise the price of the gas it supplies to the Baltic states.

"Following the accession of the [Baltic] states to the EU we will be raising prices to the corresponding level," Alexander Ryazanov, deputy CEO of the Russian gas giant said at a briefing on Tuesday.

In his words, at present the price is between $80 and $85 per 1,000 cubic meters of gas.

Speaking about the level to which the gas prices could be raised Ryazanov cited the example of Poland to which gas is supplied at the price of over $120 per 1,000 cubic meters.

"The Baltic states' gas market is stable and Gazprom is interested in it," added the deputy CEO of the gas giant.
