Political Scientist: Russia has no foreign policy in former USSR

The claim that Russia has consistently shown no real foreign policy in the former Soviet Union territories for the last few years was made at the Rosbalt information agency roundtable by Vladimir Goriunov, a directing member of the Association of Political Experts and Consultants (APEC). 'The last situation in Georgia only confirmed this idea, no matter what anyone says' noted the political scientist. 'If we preserve our own interests then we need to fulfill them, and if we give up our position and lag behind the Americans then we need to do that too. We, however, aren't doing one or the other.'
