Sergei Lavrov, Russia's foreign minister, and Colin Powell, the U.S. secretary of state, discussed the agenda of the upcoming G-8 summit in Sea Island (U.S.).
The department of information and the Foreign Ministry press service reported that on Sunday Mr. Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Mr. Powell.
"In the context of preparations for the upcoming G-8 summit this summer in Sea Island, Sergei Lavrov and Colin Powell exchanged opinions about the agenda of the forum," the Foreign Ministry reported.
The situation in Iraq, including security issues, was discussed.
According to the Foreign Ministry, a number of other pressing international issues were also discussed.
