The World Bank has published its list of the largest Russian business groups controlling 30 percent of overall sales in Russia. Analysts based their estimates on annual sales of Russian companies, number of their employees and other factors. As a result the bank determined 23 major owners in Russia. Vagit Alekpyorov, Ravil Maganov and Sergey Kukura (LUKoil) topped the list with annual sales of RUR384.1bn (about $13.458bn) and 96,531 employees.
Roman Abramovich (Sibneft and Millhouse ) ranked second with RUR183.6bn (about $6.433bn) in sales and 150,901 employees.
The Top 3 was rounded out by Vladimir Bogdanov (Surgutneftegas) with annual sales of RUR154.7bn (about $5.42bn) and 58,866 employees.
Sergey Potanin, and Mikhail Prokhorov (InterRos) were named No.4 with annual sales of RUR129.9bn (about $4.511bn) and 108,201 employees.
Mikhail Khodorkovsky, and Platon Lebedyev ranked fifth with annuals sales of RUR101.6bn (about $3.56bn) and 48,980 employees.
The Top 10 was rounded out by Mikhail Fridman, and German Khan (Alfa Group) in second place followed by Vladimir Kadannikov (AvtoVAZ), Alexey Mordashov (Severstal), Oleg Deripaska (Basic Element), Viktor Vekselberg, and Vladimir Balayeskul (Renova).
