President Vladimir Putin attaches great significance to ensuring the stability of the Russian Constitution. Mr Putin said this in a welcoming address to an international conference, "The Role of the Constitutional Court in Ensuring the Stability of and Developing the Constitution." "The fact that this forum is taking place in Russia is seen both as further evidence of the Russian legal system's integration into the European and global legal space and of a growing interest in Russia's constitutional development experience," reads the presidential address. "The Russian Constitution, whose 10th adoption anniversary we celebrated recently, proclaimed man and his rights the supreme value. To ensure the stability of our basic law is an objective of immense importance. Effective constitutional justice must play a prominent role in achieving this objective. I believe the conference will help step up a mutually beneficial dialogue between the national constitutional justice bodies."
