Veliky Novgorod (situated between Moscow and St. Petersburg) will host today an international frisbee tournament (flying disks).
Russia's strongest teams from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Arzamas, Veliky Novgorod and Nizhny Novgorod, as well as teams from Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania and Sweden will take part in the tournament. 12 men's and 9 women's teams will be participating.
The tournament's final games will be held in the Manezh gym on Monday, February 23. Then winners will be awarded and the competitions will be over.
The frisbee tournament will be held in Veliky Novgorod for a sixth time. The event's organizers say the tournament has an informal status of an open gym championship of Russia.
These competitions will become fans one of qualification rounds for the world championship, to take place in Turku (Finland) in August, for Russia's frisbee fans.
Frisbee is a team game whose players have to deal with a plastic flying disk. They have to deliver the disk to the opponent's area as many times as possible.
This sport is popular worldwide.
Frisbee became popular in Russia about 10 years ago.
