Russia is home to 10 million more women than men, said State Statistics Committee head Vladimir Sokolin citing results of the 2002 census during a press conference earlier this week. Russia has a female population of 77.6 million and 67.6 million men. In 1989, the difference in populations between men and women was 9.6 million. Sokolin said that the number of women begins begins to exceed the number of men at age 33.
