Duma set to strengthen punishment for terrorist crimes

Russian State Duma committees have started considering amendments to legislation aimed at toughening responsibility for crimes concerning terrorism, Duma speaker Boris Gryzlov told journalists today. However, it is important not to just consider issues of toughening punishment for terrorism but it is also necessary to introduce amendments aimed at improving corresponding preventive measures, Gryzlov added.

The Duma head noted that deputies had already proposed many amendments including those about strengthening the rules for the registration of citizens.
