New Russian government to be formed by new method

The Russian government staff can be slashed by one-third in the wake of the administrative reform, said Vice Premier Boris Alyoshin.

"It is hard today to give the exact number of officials to be dismissed," Alyoshin said speaking at the seminar for those State Duma members who have been elected to the parliament's lower chamber for the first time.

"An analysis has shown that government agencies do 40 percent more than perform their supervising functions. I think the government staff should be reduced by at least 30 percent," Aleshin explained.

He also said that the new government would be formed by a new method. According to him, control functions will be taken away from government institutions; therefore, they will be performing much fewer functions than before.
