A delegation from the US plans to take part in events in Nizhny Novgorod Region devoted to the 100th anniversary of the birth date of Russian aviator Valery Chkalov. The delegation includes twelve members. Chkalov is credited with being the first pilot to successfully fly a non-stop Trans-Pacific route.
The Nizhny Novgorod Region administration press service told Rosbalt that the delegation would be in Nizhny Novgorod on February 4. They plan to visit major sights in Nizhny Novgorod including the Chkalov memorial and meet with the region's governor Gennady Khodyrev. On February 5, the guests shall visit Gorodets and Chkalovsk. The delegation will also visit the Chkalov museum in Chkalovsk, tour the Gipyur factory and meet with Chkalovsk district head Sergei Lunkov.
