The US Department of State will send sixty-nine American diplomats to observe the forthcoming elections to the State Duma (the Lower House of the Russian Parliament) in Russia, reported an official spokeswoman for the US Department of State.
According to her, the elections will be observed by ten officials from the Department of State and 59 staff members of the American diplomatic missions in Russia, including the Embassy in Moscow and consulate-generals in St. Petersburg, Vladivostok and Yekaterinburg.
All these American diplomats have been accredited as observers in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), said the spokeswoman.
However, American non-governmental organizations have decided to limit their presence at the State Duma elections this year.
