Vladimir Putin arrives in Perm region and Komi-Permyak Autonomous Area

President of Russia Vladimir Putin has arrived in the Perm Region and the Komi-Permyak Autonomous Area on a working visit.

Putin flew by helicopter to Kudymkar, capital of the Komi-Permyak Autonomous Area, a RIA Novosti correspondent reports from the Perm airport. During the flight the President will examine the bridge being built across the Kama river. The bridge was named among the priority projects of road building in the transport strategy of Russia, which the State Council discussed on Wednesday.

In Kudymkar Putin will visit a local-lore museum and will have a meeting with the leadership of the Perm Region and the Komi-Permyak Autonomous Area, after which he will return to Perm.

In Perm the Head of State will pay a visit to the Dyagilev School, the assembly workshop of the Permskiye Motory plant and will hold a meeting with Governor of the Perm Region Yuri Trutnev.

The chief purpose of the President's tour of that region is to "back up the idea of the regional authorities to unite the Perm Region and the Komi-Permyak Autonomous Area into one subject of the Russian Federation, a highly-placed Kremlin official told a RIA Novosti correspondent.
