A major railway tunnel of the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM) will be commissioned on November 30, said Gennady Fadeev, President of Russian Railways state-run company.
This marks the completion of the BAM project, Mr Fadeev said at a State Council meeting in the Kremlin.
The Severomuisk tunnel is 15 km and 343 m long. It is the second largest tunnel of the world after the tunnel that was laid across the bottom of the Channel.
The tunnel will allow for a direct passage of trains avoiding a railway tap line with a difficult slope shape.
