Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Alexander Tkachyov asked the State Council's assistance in completing the construction of a dam in the Krech Strait.
"Fulfilling the work on the restoration of the Tuzla Spit, we are creating the basis for the new transport passage between Kuban and the Crimea, which should become a friendship bridge rather than an apple of discord," he said at the State Council's session in the Kremlin.
"The striving of Ukraine to dictate its conditions to the passage of ships through the Kerch Strait is understandable but the joint management of the passage will allow to increase the number of the Russian ships passing through the Strait," the governor pointed out. Tkachyov believes that this will make it possible to intensify the work of the Russian ports.
President Vladimir Putin informed all those present that on October 30 Russian foreign minister Igor Ivanov will fly to Ukraine where he will continue negotiations on the entire range of issues related to the Tuzla Spit.
