Foreign Islamic colleges are training no more than 400 Russian students, Chairman of Russia's mufti council and Head of the spiritual department of Moslems of European Russia Ravil Gainutdin said Wednesday in RIA Novosti's central office.
"We opt for Russian spiritual colleges," the mufti said. "Russian Moslems go to the world known and prestigious Islamic colleges in the Middle East only to improve their qualification and receive some advanced training in the Arab language." "We bear the responsibility for the candidates and students that our religious organisations officially send abroad," the chairman of Russia's mufti council continued.
In his words, there are not that many Moslem colleges in Russia. Besides, only 56 out of 100 training centres have passed the latest re-registration.
