46% of Russians distrust companies involved in big business. As a Rosbalt correspondent reports, this was announced today at a roundtable discussion entitled Corporative social responsibility - assessment and expectations of business in Russia by Mikhail Korsakov, director of thematic programmes for the Russian association of managers.
He said that 58% of Russian respondents do not believe that the activity of large businesses should be limited to profit-making, tax-paying and providing employment. 'These people think such companies should help young people find work, deal with pensioners' problems and do charity work,' Mr Korsakov said. He pointed out that 87% of Russians do not believe that large businesses take their social responsibilities seriously. 67% said that successful companies take them most seriously. Very few companies have been successful in fighting poverty, 62% said. According to Mr Korsakov, 1,300 people from different regions were involved in the survey.
