Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Galina Karelova is leaving for Beijing today to take part in a regular meeting of the Russian-Chinese commission on cooperation in humanitarian sphere. In the course of the visit, the two sides plan to sign an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in education, healthcare and tourism.
The meeting's agenda also includes a discussion on expanding the bilateral cultural exchange. Next month, Russia and China plan to sign an agreement on cultural cooperation, Galina Karelova told journalists yesterday.
Members of the Russian delegation are also going to familiarize themselves with the Chinese experience in upgrading the national system of secondary and higher education and discuss prospects for expanding cooperation in healthcare.
According to the Russian Deputy Prime Minister, experts of the two countries are preparing a program charting out areas of joint work in various fields of public healthcare, including effective measures to counter infectious diseases.
