Russia is not planning to send a military contingent to Iraq, Russia's permanent representative to the UN Sergei Lavrov said.
According to him, "there are different forms of support of Iraq's sovereignty. We are participating in humanitarian supplies to Iraq, our companies have returned to work at some facilities." "I do not rule it out that there are forms of participation other than sending military contingents. For instance, Russia can help a lot in the training of Iraqi policemen," the Russian diplomat said in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper.
"The Afghanistan pattern of various states' involvement in ensuring security, which means that each country is responsible for a particular area, can be used in Iraq" Lavrov believes.
