RAO UES set to restore power supply in Georgia

The Russian energy grid RAO UES intends to restore electric energy supply of Georgia by using a power transmission line connecting Russia and Georgia via Abkhazia, a breakaway republic within Georgia. According to the Georgian Fuel and Energy Ministry, these drastic measures have been caused by a breakdown of the Georgian power transmission line Kavkasioni due to acts of sabotage. Over the past two months the number of sabotage acts performed has reached 15.

Earlier today, an act of sabotage caused the breakdown of another Georgian power transmission line Imereti.
