Presidential nominee in Chechnya, Khusein Dzhabrailov has called national reconciliation "the main problem" in his republic.
"The main problem in Chechnya is reconciliation between Chechens," he said at a news conference in Moscow. "We must forgive each other. This is the condition for the start of a peace process." In case he wins the presidential election, set for October 5, Dzhabrailov is going to hold consultations with illegal bandit formations. "There are people in despair between them and they can be agreed with. The military way holds no prospect in Chechnya," he said.
According to Dzhabrailov, in his election campaign he stakes on the religious structures in Chechnya. "We have to take into account the specifics of Islam because we have been somewhat misunderstanding it recently," he said.
There is no coalition to oppose the incumbent head of Chechnya, Akhmad Kadyrov, who is the most likely winner in the presidential race, said Dzhabrailov. "The people of Chechnya should themselves decide who will be the president," he is sure.
