Moscow is concerned about the toughening of the approaches of the Georgian side at the negotiations on the Abkhazian problem.
As the information and press department of the Russian Foreign Ministry reported, Valery Loshchinin, special representative of the Russian President for the questions of the Georgian-Abkhazian settlement, spoke about it in Moscow at the meeting with Secretary of the Georgian National Security Council Tedo Dzhaparidze.
Valery Loshchinin spoke of the necessity of strengthening confidence between the sides to the conflict. According to him, a great role in this should be played by the consistent implementation of the Sochi agreements achieved by the Russian and Georgian Presidents, Vladimir Putin and Eduard Shevardnadze, concerning the resumption of the through railway traffic connecting Sochi (Russia), Sukhumi (Abkhazia), Tbilisi (Georgia) and Yerevan (Armenia), the modernisation of the cascade of the Inguri Hydroelectric Station, and the safe returning of the refugees to the Gali district of Abkhazia.
The Russian representative specially underscored that Moscow attaches principled importance to the earliest finalisation of the Presidents' agreements about the prolongation of the mandate of the CIS Collective Peacekeeping Forces in the zone of Georgian-Abkhazian conflict, added the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The Russian side also expressed its concern in connection with the demonstration flight in the Georgian airspace of the NATO reconnaissance plane equipped with the AWACS system, reported the Russian Foreign Ministry.
