Russia accounts for one fourth of Mongolian foreign trade volume

Russia accounts for one fourth of Mongolian foreign trade volume, which equals $270 million, said the Russian Foreign Ministry's official spokesman Alexander Yakovenko in an interview with RIA Novosti ahead of the forthcoming visit of Mongolian Prime Minister Nabaryn Enkhbayar to Russia.

Russia and Mongolia are connected by "century-old traditions of friendship and close cooperation," Yakovenko recalled.

Main production capacities, large mining and processing enterprises, infrastructure facilities, houses, whole cities and villages were built in Mongolia with Russia's assistance, he pointed out.

At present the countries have reached a new stage of political dialog. They added the necessary dynamics to comprehensive cooperation on the basis of the Russian-Mongolian Agreement on friendly relations and cooperation signed in 1993 and the Ulan-Bator political declaration signed in 2000 during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Mongolia.
