The Federation Council unanimously ratified on Wednesday the Agreement on Readmission between Russia and Lithuania.
The agreement between the Russian and Lithuanian governments on admission and return of the individuals illegally staying on the territory of Russia and Lithuania was signed earlier this year.
The document defines the conditions and procedure of the admission and return of not only Russian and Lithuanian citizens, but also citizens of third countries, the terms of transfer and admission, the procedure of transit and preparation of documents to transfer individuals subject to readmission, deputy chairman of the Federation Council's international committee Nikolai Bychkov said.
Russia has committed itself to introducing the readmission agreement in compliance with the joint statement of the Russia-EU summit on transit between the Kaliningrad region /Russia's enclave on the Baltic/ and the rest of the country, that was adopted in November 2002, Bychkov emphasised.
