Russia's gas giant Gazprom plans to export 3 billion cubic meters of natural gas to the UK under spot contracts this year, the company's Deputy CEO Yury Komarov reported. Gazprom intends to expand its gas supplies under spot contracts both to its traditional markets in western Europe and to the UK, where annual demand for gas imports are estimated to reach 50 billion cubic meters by the end of the decade, Komarov said. He noted that Gazprom planned to more actively participate in projects connected with expanding gas transportation infrastructure outside Russia. In particular, Gazprom may take part in the construction of new pipelines from the Austrian border to Italy, the Russia Journal reported.
