Representatives of the Russia-based tire producer Amtel and the US tire and rubber giant Goodyear held negotiations in Moscow. Goodyear's representatives proposed to their Russian partners to set up a joint venture on take-off terms envisaging production of goods under Goodyear's brand. Goodyear also proposed that the factory Rosava (Ukraine) within the Amtel holding to start producing 1m tires a year. Moreover, the US giant put forward yet another proposal on purchasing Amtel's entire businesses.
Amtel accounts for 28 percent of the CIS tire market. The holding consists of 4 tire plants with aggregate production capacities of nearly 14bn tires a year.
