St. Petersburg Governor Vladimir Yakovlev has been appointed Vice Premier Minister for Construction and Housing. President Vladimir Putin read the corresponding order at the government council meeting in St. Petersburg today.
Putin said that 'the Governor has done many positive things in the sphere of developing the city's infrastructure. At the same time, in the area of housing and construction in Russia there are still many unresolved problems. We offered this post to Vladimir Yakovlev, he agreed, and for that we are very thankful,' said Putin.
In his new duties, Yakovlev will be instructed to be in progress with the development of housing. Putin said that Yakovlev will also answer for construction activities in cities, architecture, development of Russian cities and also coordinate the activity of the entire Russian transport complex. In addition, Yakovlev also was awarded the order of 'service before the fatherland' fourth degree.
