Akhmad Kadyrov, head of the Chechen administration, expects about 200 Chechen militants soon to lay down their arms under an amnesty announced in Chechnya. He said this on Monday, addressing journalists before a State Council session in St Petersburg.
They are mainly those militants with whom "his /Kadyrov's/ men have been working", said the head of the Chechen Republic's administration.
The resolution on an amnesty in Chechnya came into effect on June 7.
A decision on applying the amnesty act is taken individually with respect to each person. The amnesty resolution is to be enacted in the course of 6 months from the day of entering into force.
