AvtoVAZ releases production results - 4 June, 2003

The Russian automobile manufacturer AvtoVAZ produced 262,592 automobiles in the period from January to May 2003, which was 15 percent lower than in the corresponding period of last year, the public relations department of the company reported. Some 35,643 cars were exported, which was in line with the planned volume.

In May 2003 AvtoVAZ manufactured 56,607 automobiles, which was 3.05 percent lower than in May 2002. Some 7,000 cars were exported.

In 2002 the company assembled 702,966 automobiles, some 54,347 automobiles less than in 2001. In 2003 AvtoVAZ is planning to produce about 690,000 automobiles worth 97.7bn rubles ($3.15bn).
