At its plenary session on Wednesday the Federation Council (the Upper House of the Russian parliament) approved the federal Law on Peasant (Private) Farms.
In presenting this law, the chairman of the Upper House's committee for agricultural food policy, Ivan Starikov, said that the document provided for state support of private farms in several directions.
According to the senator, the private farms will receive all kinds of subsidies, grants and subventions, which are allocated by the state to agricultural producers. Special forms of support at the first stage can be introduced for the private farms, which have just been formed. Under this law, the form of state support of small entrepreneurship also spreads to private farms.
In the opinion of the chairman of the Upper House's agricultural committee, "on the whole, the law can help the state authorities to stimulate the development of private farms."
