Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday will receive PRC Chairman Hu Jintao, who arrived to Russia the day before with an official visit.
This is the first visit to Russia by the new Chinese leader after the change of the leadership in that country. Yesterday, the two leaders had an informal meeting.
On Tuesday, the Russian President and the PRC Chairman will conduct negotiations - at first tete-a-tete and then in a broader format. As is expected, the main accent at the negotiations will be laid at bilateral relations, cooperation in different spheres and interaction on the international arena. Vladimir Putin and Hu Jintao will touch upon the issues of military-technological cooperation.
According to the data of RIA Novosti, it is expected that after the meetings the sides will adopt a political document, which will sum up the results of the implementation of the Treaty of Good-Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation between Russia and China that was concluded on July 16, 2001. Two agreements in the economic sphere - on cooperation in the banking sphere and on cooperation at a level of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources are likely to be signed as well.
The Chinese leader will also meet with the heads of the Russian government and of both houses of the parliament. On May 29th, Hu Jintao will take part in the Moscow summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
In 2001, Hu Jintao paid a working visit to Moscow in the capacity of the deputy secretary general of the Communist Party of China and met with the President and the Prime Minister of Russia. In December 2002, Vladimir Putin had a conversation with Hu Jintao in Beijing.
