Baltic Pipeline System's capacity to increase

The Russian government has adopted a decision to enlarge the capacity of the Baltic Pipeline System to 50m tons per year, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Khristenko has told journalists after today's government meeting devoted to the Russian energy strategy through 2020. The strategy defines two basic directions of Russian oil exports, these are the northern and northwestern directions with the priority given to the Baltic Pipeline System. Moreover, a route on the Kola Peninsula is to be worked out. The capacity of the pipeline Druzhba-Adria is to be some 15m tons. Up to 60m tons of oil are to be pumped through the Caspian Pipeline Consortium. Moreover, it is planned to construct the pipeline Angarsk-Nakhodka with a 50m-ton capacity and a branch to Daqing, China, with an up to 30m-ton capacity.
