Asphalt factory Ammann Global opens in Pskov

The opening ceremony of the new asphalt factory Ammann Global is taking place in the Pskov Region today. According to the regional road committee the equipment and installation was provided by Ammann Asphalt GmbH (Germany). The total worth of the contract is over EUR 2 million.

A spokesman for the committee, which purchased the equipment, said that the company was renowned for its high quality production which meets all environmental requirements. While the previous factory was only able to produce 300 tonnes a day the new factory will be able to produce 160 tonnes every hour. Concrete produced at the factory using the new equipment will be used in the near future to construct part of the highway from Saint Petersburg to Pskov. Later the factory's concrete will be used to surface the new ring-road around Pskov.

The new factory is actually movable and can be relocated elsewhere at short notice. The first of such asphalt factories was opened in May 2002 in the Novgorod Region and is being used for the construction of the Russia highway between Moscow and Saint Petersburg. In total there are 30 such factories currently operating in Russia.
