Dollar drops significantly since beginning of 2003

The difference between the dollar exchange rates of January 9 and May 19, 2003 amounted to 0.99RUR/USD (31.88 RUR/USD and 30.89 RUR/USD respectively). The Russian national currency has strengthened by almost RUR1 against the dollar. Such a rapid growth of the ruble resembles the situation with the currency exchange rates in 1995.

Although today's dollar exchange rate drop against the ruble was a bit more than 3 percent, these figures cause uneasy feelings amid the rapid inflation and the lack of efficient financial and economic government strategies.
