Net income of the automobile producer UAZ amounted to 1.573bn rubles ($50.74m) in 2002, compared to 263.914m rubles ($8.5m) in losses in 2001, the company said in its report.
Sales proceeds advanced by 16.4 percent to 8.373bn rubles ($270m), which was due to the growth in automobile exports, car prices and car component production.
In 2002 UAZ sold 72,541 automobiles, which was 0.3 percent higher than in 2001. Exports grew by 23.8 percent to 8,981 automobiles and car kits. The share of exports in the total volume of production surged from 10 percent in 2001 to 12.4 percent in 2002.
