A strategy for developing the Russian oil and gas sector will be the main theme of the IV Congress of Russian Oil and Gas Industrialists. As a Rosbalt correspondent was informed today at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Bashkiria, more than 1.3 thousand people will attend the congress including representatives of leading oil and gas companies as well as petrochemical and heavy engineering companies. Representatives of the Russian government and the State Duma and regional political representatives will also be present at the congress.
The plenary session of the congress will take place on May 22. Chairman of the State Duma Gennady Seleznyov is expected to speak at this meeting as well as Deputy Energy Minister Vladimir Stanev, Deputy Minister for Natural Resources Piotr Sadovnik, Deputy Foreign Minister Victor Kaliuzhny, Transneft President Semion Vainshtok, Head of Transnefteproduct Sergei Maslov, President of the Russian Union of Oil and Gas Industrialists Gennady Shmal and also representatives of the Association of Oil and Gas Industrialists and Petrochemical Specialists.
The congress will be based around eight different topics. For example one of these will be the question of how to raise the efficacy of oil and gas production in Russia. They will also discuss ways of improving the transportation system for hydrocarbon materials. Other topics will include energy-efficient technology, questions of machinery, metrology and communications in the oil and gas sector and ways of developing the Russian energy complex.
The Congress of Russian Oil and Gas Industrialists traditionally takes place in Ufa once every two years. It is organised by the Russian Energy Ministry, the Union of Russian Oil and Gas Industrialists, the government of Bashkiria and the Bashkir Ministries of Industry and Foreign Trade, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bashkiria and leading companies from the Russian energy complex. The XI international exhibition entitled Gas. Oil will be held at the same time as the congress in the small and large arenas of the Ufa Sports Centre.
