Customs Committee Posts Energy and Oil Exports

In the first quarter of 2003, exports of electrical energy from Russia beyond the CIS gained 33 percent as compared to the corresponding period of 2002, and amounted to 3.503 billion kilowatt per hour, or $94.5m, the Russian State Customs Committee reported to RBC. In the reported period, Russia exported 1.32 billion kilowatt per hour of electrical energy to CIS countries, worth $21.4m. The total volume of electrical energy exports reached 4.823 billion kilowatt per hour worth $115.9m.

The amount of coal, exported in the first quarter of 2003, was 14.703 million tons, or $387m. Its exports to the CIS reached 2.450 million tons worth $73.2m. Coal exports beyond the CIS surged 33 percent to 12.253 million tons ($313.8m).

As for oil exports, in the reported period they reached 44.006 million tons ($8.286bn), the Customs Committee said, including 4.924 million tons ($614.1m) to the CIS and 39.82 million tons (about $7.672bn) beyond the CIS.
