Medics Believe there is No Atypical Pneumonia in Blagoveshchensk

A consultation of medics of the Amur Region (the Far East) has concluded there is no atypical pneumonia in Blagoveshchensk.

As RIA Novosti was told in the press service of the Regional administration, physicians at the Amur Regional infection hospital discussed on Monday the condition of the patient hospitalised on suspicion of "atypical pneumonia".

Specialists of the regional health committee, the Amur Regional clinical hospital and regional clinical infection hospital, and the scientists of departments of the Amur state medical academy participated in the consultation. Chief infectionist of the Russian Health Ministry and the chief infectionist of the Far East participated in the consultation by telephone.

As a result of the discussion, the physicians concluded that the patient had double polysegmentary pneumonia complicated by grave sepsis and polyorganic deficiency, which, as a whole, determined the gravity of the course of the disease. As the specialists noted, adequate therapy is being carried out.

As the specialists stressed, the disease can be finally diagnosed only after the analyses of virological research are received from Moscow.

Denis Soinikov, a 25-year-old resident of Blagoveshchensk, was hospitalised on May 4 with the symptoms of acute viral respiratory disease complicated by double pneumonia. The man did not go to China but over the past month he lived in the Zarya hotel which was closed for quarantine at that time.

By all the clynical symptoms Soinikov's disease went on as atypical pneumonia, and it was preliminarily diagnosed, though the laboratory examination did not confirm it.
