Russian President Congratulates Participants in Red Square Military Parade on Victory Day

Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated the participants in the military parade in Red Square on the Victory Day.

The President stressed in his address that the Victory Day was a "great and sacred" date.

Soldiers and workers of the rear, all peoples of the multinational Union contributed to the victory, Putin said. "This is our common holiday and the day of our shared memory," the Russian President said.

According to him, the love for homeland proved stronger than the Nazi hordes.

"We must remember how the war started and why the Nazis appropriated the right to decide the destinies of the world nations," the president said. According to him, years had passed before the world united in the struggle against Nazism.

"A new threat - international terrorism - has emerged," Putin said. He called it "a global and very serious threat" and stressed the need to strengthen Russia's armed forces and learn from the fathers' experience." The president congratulated everyone on the Day of the Great Victory. "Glory to the soldiers of the Great Patriotic War! Glory to the winner people! Glory to Russia!" the president concluded his speech.

The troops replied to the president's address with a triple hurrah. After that, the national anthem of the Russian Federation was performed.
