On April 29, 2003 Russia will pay about EUR73.6m in debts to the International Monetary Fund. The payment is equal to 58.929m SDR (Special Drawing Rights) and it will be made in EUR23.68m and 34.617m British pounds, the press service of the Russian Finance Ministry reported.
The payment will be made in a strict accordance with the original payment schedule, the ministry stressed. The next payment totaling 19.469m SDR will be made ahead of the schedule on April 30, instead of May 2, which will be a holiday.
Russia is to pay $17.3bn in foreign debts this year. On January 1, 2003 Russia's debt to the IMF was $6.4bn (4.8bn SDR). Some $2bn (1.559bn SDR) are to be paid off to the Fund this year. The amount of payments to the IMF in the period from January to April 2003 is to be about $690m, including the April 29 payment.
